“I’m busy!” “I’m tired!”

Two things you said often before Corona. But look what happened? Now, you have more time. Now, you’re forced to rest. Unless your career is essential right now you are required to stay home…. and rest.

I know that may be hard for you. You’re used to doing all the things. You’re used to a schedule that is packed. But in this season, with a newly open schedule what can you, my “busy” friend learn?

Jesus never wanted your hustle or busyness. Jesus wanted you. And He wants you now. Not the you who succeeds, smiles big and “fakes it till you make it”…He wants the real you. He wants honest prayers and a real relationship. He wants you to talk to Him, even when you’re not asking for something.

So now that you aren’t as busy, why don’t you stop pushing Him away? He wants you. He cares for you. And right now as you stare at this screen I believe He is saying what His scripture says…”come to me all who are weak and weary and I will give you rest.”

You’ve spent too many days stressed about tomorrow.

What a waste this life would be if we didn’t take time to talk to Him.

What a waste this season would be if we didn’t sit at His feet.

Now that your life has slowed down, will you come to Him? Come to Him with an honest heart? Will you finally pray and not be in a rush when talking to Him?

See, your purpose has nothing to do with your productivity. When God created you He did not say “she/he will be good and complete when they succeed, graduate, kill it at their job, or start that business.” He said “it is good”.

You were good not because of your productivity and what you accomplished.

You were good because He created you.

You were good because you were created in His image.

You were not created in the image of the American dream… or even in the image of your hard-working family…

You were created in His image.

You were good because of who your God is. You were good because you had the ability to be in relationship with Him.

Yes, you should be in relationship with Jesus because eternity with Him in Heaven will be sweet… but you should also be in relationship with Him because during trials like these, He gives you peace. He gives you peace when business is slow and you miss out on graduation. He gives you rest when your thoughts want to be anxious. And He gives you Himself, a relationship worth pursuing, and a Healer stronger than any disease.

So instead of being busy… be with Him. Instead of hustling… sit at His feet. Instead of worrying… find rest in His name. Maybe, that was our purpose all this time. Maybe, that’s why God created us. Maybe, if we sat at our Savior’s feet we would do even bigger things in this world than if we were “busy”.

I love Jesus, diet coke and sunflowers. I wish I lived in the mountains, but love the two states I call home--Louisiana and Texas. I can watch Criminal Minds all day and dream of one day owning an ice cream truck for fun. However, my main goal in life is that more girls will realize the worth they have through Christ Jesus--and with Him and Him only we are enough.
