Sometimes I get sad when I think about all the people whom I have met who haven’t felt God.
Am I even Christian enough to spread the gospel? How can I better prepare myself to “save souls”? I want to save people from their sins and help them see their worth. I want to transform lives and cause them to feel joy down deep in their soul.
I want to be Christian enough to save others from their sins.
However, God laughed at me the minute those thoughts came into my mind.
The truth is I am not good enough to save people.
See, I’m no Superman. Just because I’m Christian doesn’t mean I have the power to save people’s souls. I don’t hold the key to eternity. I didn’t save anyone’s soul, and I cannot save anyone’s soul.
Christ can. Christ does. And Christ, if one’s free-will desires to, will.
Christ has His arms open-wide for His children to come home. Christ is patiently awaiting their return with grace as the welcome-home gift. God is ready to host a party for their arrival and unlock the gates of paradise.
You do not hold that key or that power. But you can point others to the One who holds that power and those keys.
See, Christians cannot save people. God calls us to accept His radical love that leads us to radical obedience. He asks us to dance with Him eagerly. He has His hand out for YOU to be pursued by Him into a beautiful dance where you follow His step-after-step. He wants to glide you to new horizons. This dance you do with your Farther is so beautiful and appealing that others stop and stare and want to dance as well with the King of Kings.
Look at this verse from one of my favorite Psalm:
Psalm 62:1-2″ My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”
Notice it doesn’t say “My soul finds rest in Grace Valentine, my salvation comes from her.” No, it doesn’t because I can’t give people the freedom their soul craves. I can’t satisfy others because unlike Jesus I can be shaken. I can fall and I will fail. You can’t be someone’s salvation or rock. No matter how many times you have gone to church or how “cool” your testimony is. You can’t give someone rest. You can’t save others, because only the Mighty Warrior can save.
The only one who can truly satisfy the human heart is the One who created it. Stop trying to be the satisfier and be the satisfied.
So Christians, stop worrying about saying the right thing. Let Christ save others by using your life of radical love and radical obedience. Let your everyday follow the Lord’s lead with grace and joy. Let your everyday be a testimony of the Farther.
And if needed, God will give you the words to articulate how beautiful the dance is with key-holder. God will speak through you. Your mouth will be a vessel for Him, and the words will not come from yourself.
Some people will not accept the power of Christ intentionally, and although that saddens God, it is not because of you. He is still waiting for that child. And you are still dancing with Him. Sometimes all you can do is focus on your dance with Christ, and hope that they notice how beautiful it is to dance with the Great I Am.
So Christians, you can’t save people, so stop trying. God can, and leading others to notice His radical love is best shown through your radical love and radical obedience.
John 14: 6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
