There is a lot going on in our nation and our world.

A lot of pain. A lot of tragedy. A lot of war. A lot of deaths. A lot of sadness.

I have been overwhelmed by the amount of pain and suffering in our world.

I found myself mad at God the other day. I found myself confused as to why a perfect God would allow these situations to happen. Where was God in the midst of these trials?

However, you know what God said next? He asked me where I was in the midst of these sufferings. What was I doing to better the nation and world during these tragedies.

There are people whose hurt needs to be heard. There are people who deserve respect and appreciation. There are hard topics we need to talk about. There are problems that need to be addressed, and helpful solutions that need to be found.

Why do bad things happen to good people? Why are we even having to deal with suffering?

There is a sin. There is free will to sin. There is a devil who is real and tempts those to cause suffering.

However, there is also free will to stand against this. There is free will to help those suffering. There is free will to listen to the hurt, to appreciate those around us, to make a difference in our community. There is free will to love the outcasts, to serve our neighbor, and to be the hands and feet of the Lord to those in need.

So yes, keep praying for God to help our nation and world, but also pray for Him to use you to help others in the midst of this suffering. Ask Him what you can do to make this world a better place instead of waiting on the miracle. Maybe you are the miracle. Maybe, just maybe, you can help your neighbor, community, nation or even world find Jesus in this tragedy.

Let us work towards using our everyday to bring glory to the Kingdom. Let us listen to the hurt, appreciate those serving us, and wake up each morning with the light we can only get from above.

I pray that when I get to the gates and see my Lord He can say, “well done good and faithful one.” I pray each new morning the Lord gives me is used to be a little piece for Jesus to someone in need. I pray in the midst of the suffering in the world, I can bring joy and be a light. I pray I can be like the Lord and be near to the brokenhearted and show them the One who saves those crushed in spirit.

I pray you see the potential you have to make this world a better place. It starts with you. Because frankly, the world needs Jesus right now more than ever.

The Lord created mountains, sunrises and puppies. He created our hearts to hold empathy and our minds to problem solve. And He created you, with a soul that can possess the Holy Spirit and a life that can love like the Lord loves you. He created you for a purpose bigger than Facebooking your political views. He created you with the ability to change the world through your love. Let us love. Let us be a little piece of Christ in this suffering.

Psalm 34:18 “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Matthew 5:16 “Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.”

Matthew 28:19 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”

I love Jesus, diet coke and sunflowers. I wish I lived in the mountains, but love the two states I call home--Louisiana and Texas. I can watch Criminal Minds all day and dream of one day owning an ice cream truck for fun. However, my main goal in life is that more girls will realize the worth they have through Christ Jesus--and with Him and Him only we are enough.

  1. hey Grace
nice article… just this morning I woke up to the news of Terror Attack in France. the other day South Sudan there was unrest that killed close to 100 people. in my country Kenya mysterious events happen every waking day, from accidents to husband killing wife and kids. just overwhelming.
in my humble opinion, I see the book of Revelation starting to unfold.
in Swahili we sing…’natengeneza kati yangu na Yesu, bwana akija anikute tayari’ – to mean ‘I am mending my ways with Jesus, so when he comes he finds me ready’
the whole world should cry out to the Lord as it is articulated in 2 Chronicles 7:14… “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

    1. I love your wisdom! There is so much pain in the world, and I’ll be praying for your country. I’ve visited Kenya –beautiful country. God bless and thanks for reading
