Dear Future Husband,
I hope you dance.
Of course I want you to dance with me, twirling me around, dipping me every other 8-count. I want us to sing in the car to old T-Pain songs, rap all the words to Ignition, and go to every wedding and own the dance floor.
But I want you to dance with the One who hung the stars more than you dance with me.
Back in the day, when I took ballroom dance classes through cotillion (thanks mom..), I learned that when you dance with a partner you follow the leader’s steps. The leader makes every move and the one dancing with him is only worried about going where the leader goes. The leader goes to the left, the partner is right in front of him following closely, gliding to the left as well. The leader goes behind, and the partner locks eyes with the later gracefully falling suit.
I want you to dance with the Lord. I want you to dance with The King of Kings. I want you to follow His lead. I want you to go where the Lord goes, and every move He makes you follow after Him. You should glide gracefully to where He wants you to go.
I don’t want you to follow me. I will stumble. I will trip. I will forget the next step. But the Lord will not ever make a mistake. The Lord will joyfully take your hand and glide through the motions with peace and gentleness.
I want you to lock eyes with Christ and Christ only. I don’t want you to notice the world around you. I want you to focus on dancing with the Lord, following Him, and be able to tune out the distractions that we are surrounded by daily. They will try to make you lose beat when you dance with Jesus. The devil will try to cut in on your dance with the Lord. But focus on Christ and you won’t even notice the distractions around you.
I want you to have fun on your journey with Christ. We always call our relationship with Jesus a “walk with Christ”– I do that all the time. But the other day I got to thinking, I do not want to walk with Christ. I do not want my husband to walk with Christ. Why walk when you can dance? I pray you joyfully go where called, and consider your relationship with Christ a personal adventure filled with grace, gentleness and vulnerability.
I pray you follow Jesus’s lead, step after step. I pray you find joy in the beauty of the everyday adventure. I pray I can dance with the Lord as well, in this journey we call life.
See what makes a guy most attractive is when he dances with the Lord. I pray you have the ability to listen to the Lord and go where He leads you. It is not easy in this world to follow the Lord’s lead. The world tells us to chase money, a 401k, physical attraction and success. But the Lord looks at us and says “dance with me, I am eternal not this world”. I pray you can be an example to me about what it means to follow the Lord. I pray when I forget to dance with the Lord, you take my hand and push me to the Lord like a wingman at the 6th grade dance. I pray I can do the same for you. I pray you are attracted to me because you notice me dancing with the Lord. You do not ask to cut in on me dancing with the Lord–instead, you dance with the Lord right beside me.
John 8:12 “Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

I absolutely LOVE this!
So glad you do 🙂 God bless!
Hi Grace, great post, it was exactly what I need to hear! I think that the correct reference for the verse is John 8:12, not 8:32. I really enjoy your blog, keep writing to the glory of God!
Wow thanks friend for helping me I’ll change that 🙂 Glad you enjoyed God bless <3

So ever since I started walking with Jesus, which was 6 years ago, I started slow dancing with Jesus in my bedroom. It became our thing. My very first “our thing” with Jesus. It is something I will forever cherish with The Lord. He is such a romancer and a remarkable leader. So reading your blog brings my heart so much joy because it means so much to me. You wrote about something that speaks to the depths of my soul. I never thought to pray for my future husband to dance with Jesus. But now I will be doing that. This is my heartcry to the Lord so thank you for listening to the Holy Spirit and being so sensitive to when He is speaking to you. I am blessed to have read this.
Wow I love that you do that, that is such a beautiful tool and example. Isn’t it crazy then that you stumbled upon this article, God is good?? You have such wisdom and I love your ability to put that into words. I pray for your husband too and that he dances with Jesus. God bless new friend!
I enjoyed this. My fiancé and I are struggling and your words were an encouragement to us both 😋
So glad this could help you both. God bless and I pray for your marriage to be a tool for the Lord to love on y’all. <3
Absolutely perfect!! Thank you so much!! The Lord has taught me in recent months through visions and Pratt, that He desires Romance w/ us 🙂 He is intimate, a pursuer, dancer, leader. Anyway your post touched my heart and reminded me of what kind of man I’m waiting for 🙂 so thank you so much 💗💗
This is so kind Antarra. I am glad you found truth in this. I love your wisdom, the Lord truly does desire to “romance us” what a beautiful way to put it. God bless and keep waiting <3

I’m a 40-something dad. I don’t read your blog and truthfully, it feels kinda strange to even be posting this. But what I noticed yesterday is that my 19 year baby girl linked this post on her facebook page. The “Dear Future Husband: I hope you dance with the Lord” quickly caught my eye. Thank you for taking time to invest in young girls and for understanding that above all, praying for a mate (including guys) should start with “does he/she love the Lord like no other.” Good stuff, young lady. Keep it up!!
Wow this made my day sir! I can tell you are doing an incredible job at being an example for her. You love for her is inspiring. God bless you and all you do!
even though everything will always work out for the best at the end…… watch out for what you wish for and where the surrendering process gets you……“If any man come to Me, and hate not his father, and mother; and wife, and children, and brethren and sisters, yea, and his own life also (for a period of time while learning how to enter the kingdom), he cannot be My disciple.” Luke 14:26
(A disciple must be willing to leave relationships and current life in order to increase consciousness from a fallen state into the Christ Consciousness state through the surrendering process – an individual process that awakens their Christ Spirit).

Yes, but also the Lord blesses marriages and says once you are married you become one. I truly believe the one I marry with love His children, me like Jesus loves us.
I do pray that everyone gets to live the experience that they want! My comment was more in line with being in a very happy marriage for 15 years and then receiving the call to surrender. In the marriage, it does create one in unified consciousness that takes place and in order to keep the marriage intact, must not sway to far by either of the two partners. When one grows to far ahead of the other, they must either decrease their consciousness to the other’s level to keep the marriage happy, or must decide to continue in their growth. I love all of my children more than ever but did decide to follow into the higher consciousness teachings. – Elisha then left his oxen and ran after Elijah. “Let me kiss my father and mother goodbye,” he said, “and then I will come with you.” “Go back,” Elijah replied. “What have I done to you?”
Grace to you as you share that name with my daughter and may many blessings come to you.
This is awesome. Thank you for reminding me to be like David.
So glad you enjoyed, yes I need to be reminded to be like David as well. God bless!

Beautiful read. Will hope that my future wife will do the same. As a future husband (maybe), I agree with everything in the article except T-Pain. I prefer Drake over T-Pain any day. Lastly, thanks for writing this! Will definitely send this to my family, relatives, and friends!
Yes Drake is good to hahah! Thanks for sharing and God bless 🙂

The best article I read about ‘Dear Future Husband’. Thank you for writing this. Many girls will inspire to this.
So glad you agree Mary God bless <3
Okay-I love this. I’ve been a dancer for 14 years (I graduated high school last year, but I’m in a show choir that requires a lot of dancing so I guess 15 years now😂) and anything dance I can relate to. I’m always asked to choreograph a dance to a song we’re singing and to help clean up dances and all that fun stuff… But I never thought of putting Jesus and dancing together…! Beautiful article! I love this so so much.
I used to dance too 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed and found truth God bless!
Hi!
I love this blog.
It makes me inspire to dance more with the Lord.
God bless you.
This made my day. God bless you
